We love a winter wedding!
Introducing our beautiful bride, Delaney!
For her December wedding, Delaney looked stunning in a long-sleeved ballgown by Essense of Australia!
Paired with an Essense veil, Delaney looked perfect on her big day!

Delaney had the prettiest winter bouquets, thanks to Petals Boutique Flowers in Dyer!
They’re so beautiful, we love the addition of pine cones in them!
Before heading down the aisle, Delaney decided to play a big prank on her soon-to-be hubby…
“My favorite moment of the wedding was probably during the first looks. Even though I didn’t get to see it until my pictures came back, I played a prank on my husband and sent his best man out there in a dress instead of me. I knew doing that would give him a good laugh and ease his nerves before having to see me, and before the ceremony started. The pictures are amazing and he looks like he genuinely thought it was hilarious. That’s a win for me because that will probably go down as my funniest prank ever. It was so hard keeping it a secret.”

Now that the pressure was off, Delaney took her turn sharing a special first look with Jacob!

Delaney and Jacob were married in a beautiful indoor ceremony at Meyer’s Castle in Dyer!

How did Delaney and Jacob meet?
“We met through mutual friends. Stick with me here as this wording can get confusing, but, it turns out that one of my best friends from high school, her brother is one of his best friends (who is also now married to my sister in law). We had just been crossing paths throughout the past few years without really knowing. We also had been going to the same church and never knew until we officially met and started talking. Such a small world!”
How’d Jacob pop the question??
“He proposed to me in the gazebo at the Lighthouse in Cedar Lake. One of my favorite places to get chocolate cake haha!”
Did Delaney have any idea a proposal was about to happen??
“I kinda knew it was coming, but not entirely. He did it on my parents wedding anniversary, so that was the excuse for going out to a nice dinner. The only thing that maybe gave it away was my sister was begging me all day to go get a manicure with her.”
After she got the ring, it was time to get the dress!
“My dress buying experience was very fun and not difficult at all. The girls at Something Blue are so nice and friendly. The only hard part was not drooling over all the beautiful dresses. I loved being able to try on so many styles and of course seeing all the sparkly dresses was just a treat.”
How did Delaney know her dress was “the one”?
“I knew my dress was the one because it immediately checked all my boxes. A big thing was I was really unhappy with how my hair looked at the time, I had a lot of breakage and it was super short but when I put my dress on, I felt like I would even be happy in this dress no matter what my hair looked like. That was huge for me.”
How was Delaney’s experience with wedding planning?
“I’m not going to lie, I did not love the planning process haha. I hated making decisions and really did not care that much about every little detail. If I could pinpoint one thing, I would probably say when I went to order some desserts for the dessert table and they sent me home with a ton of flavors to try. But overall seeing everything come together the day of was my favorite part of planning.
I didn’t like a lot of the planning process because like I said previously I hated all the decisions I had to make and I had a lot on my plate between work and personal life I was happy to let someone else take the reins. Thankfully my mom was going full blown wedding planner the whole time and helped me out a ton.”
Does Delaney have any words of wisdom for brides-to-be who are currently planning their own big day?
“The best advice I can give is, wedding planning is not all rainbows and sunshine. Some people really love every bit of it, and that’s great. After talking with some of my friends who also got married, we all agree it’s tough. Just breathe through everyone else’s ideas and opinions, the good and the bad, and just remember it’s your day. You make it what you want it to be, not anyone else.”
Congratulations and happy 1st wedding anniversary, Delaney and Jacob!
