I mean how gorgeous is she??
Introducing our beautiful bride, Makaela!
For her November wedding, Makaela chose a stunning A-line gown by Essense of Australia!
The lace and sparkle details on this gown are seriously so perfect!

Makaela’s flowers were all absolutely stunning!
That’s all thanks to the florists at Strack and Van Til!
Before heading down the aisle, Makaela and her soon-to-be hubby, Mikey, shared a first look along with their own private vows!
“My favorite moment was doing our private vows. I feel like this has become more of thing recently and I am so glad we choose to do this. It was very small and intimate but something I'll remember forever. We just had our immediate family with us and I was able to be fully present in the moment of just us two.”

Makaela and Mikey were married in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana!

After the couple swapped “I do’s”, they headed back to the big barn for a celebration to remember!

How did the newlyweds first meet?
“We met in 2013 in high school band class. I was a freshman and he was a junior, during that school year we started to become friends. One day he messaged me on Facebook messenger asking when the band pizza party was (which a few years later he admitted he knew all along) and the rest was history. That next year we made it official April 5th, 2014.”
How did Mikey pop the question?
“Mikey proposed at the lighthouse in Cedar lake on June 26, 2021. We had it planned for a couple weeks that we wanted to go there on that day to eat as it is one of our favorite restaurants. That entire day it was storming, tornado warnings on and off, and I thought we would reschedule but we decided we still wanted to go. On our way there it was pouring, we barely were able to see the in front of us and once we pulled into the parking lot the rain stopped. We got out and we walked to the back to look at the lake and admiring how beautiful it was. We walked down onto the pier and made It all the way down when Mikey popped the question. Once I said yes, our whole family was cheering behind us, which I had no idea they came until that moment! Once he proposed and we walked back down the pier to greet our family, it then started down pouring again. We were so lucky we had those couple minutes of dry skies! After we walked into the restaurant, everyone started clapping and cheering for us and it was such a sweet moment.”
Was it a surprise or did she know it was coming?
“I had a feeling it was going to happen just because we had that certain date planned for awhile and we wanted to dress up. The day before my mom took me to get my nails done, so I got white just in case! I didn’t know for sure because I was still in school and I figured we would wait until I graduated and no one would give me any clues! Even though I had a small feeling it didn’t make it any less special, I wouldn’t have changed anything!”
After saying “yes!” to Mikey, it was time for Makaela to say “yes!” to the dress!
“I had an amazing dress buying experience and I went to a few places including Something Blue. It was just me and my mom and I thought it was super special to have just us two. I tried on many dresses and it was so fun and one of my favorite parts about the planning process. Something Blue Bridal was so amazing, and the dress that I ended up picking was one that Colleen chose for me! I didn’t want any sparkles but she made me try it on anyways and I’m so glad I did because It was the one!”
How did she know her dress was “the one”?
“The dress that I got was actually the 2nd dress I tried on and I didn’t want to make a decision so soon. I tried on many different dresses after, and every dress I tried on I kept comparing it to that one dress. I would go home and find myself constantly looking at the pictures of that dress. I went back with my closest friends and family to try it on again and I ended up saying yes to the dress that day!”
What was her favorite {and least fave} part of wedding planning?
“We had a long engagement so I really had time to take things slow and plan everything out at a good pace. I would say my favorite part of the wedding process was picking our venue. We knew we wanted a barn wedding and we looked at a couple places but once we looked at county line we knew it was the one. It was so beautiful and the employees were so nice and helpful. They helped with the whole wedding process which was amazing. Once we picked out the venue we were so excited and that’s when it felt real.
My least favorite part was the seating chart. I had to constantly redo it to make it fit and have everyone we want sit next to each other. I had to double and triple check to make sure we included everyone and once I printed all the names I would find an error in a name and have to start all over again.”
Does Makaela have any words of wisdom to give brides who are currently in the planning process?
“The best piece of advice is to not stress the small things. I know I was super worried about the weather and constantly checking even months out but I knew it was out of my control and there was no reason to stress. Everything will turn out beautiful no mater what and when you’re looking back on your special you won’t remember what was missed or what went wrong. You’ll remember marrying the love of your life and that’s what matters. Everything will come together no matter what!”
Congratulations and Happy 1st Anniversary, Makaela and Mikey!!
