She’s just the coolest!!

Introducing our amazing bride, Patty!

For her early November wedding, Patty chose a fitted champagne gown with black lace by Allure Bridals!

It was so cool on her and she made the look her own with a black tulle train added by the seamstress! And the hat?? To die for!

Patty made all of the decor for her wedding, including the florals!

These moody little boho bouquets are so perfect!

Patty and her very soon-to-be hubby, Drew, decided to share a special first look together before the ceremony!

They also read their vows to each other in private - we love this trend so much!

Patty and Drew were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at White Oak Farm Venue in Michigan City, Indiana!

Once the newlyweds made it official, everyone headed inside the barn for the reception!

We’re here for all the moody decor and colors!

How did Patty meet Drew?

“We met in high school and started dating my senior year in 2015 (he was older and graduated already)!”

How did Drew pop the question?

“He proposed to me on Christmas in 2021. He acted like he was putting our dog (Theo) in pajamas to show me but put the ring on his collar and let him run down the stairs to me to find the ring tied to the collar and then he got down on one knee and popped the question! It was sweet because we've have Theo since we first started dating so he's our baby. I was very surprised because I actually knew he had the ring for a while and he always joked when he would do it.”

When it was time to find her gown, Patty knew she wanted something unique!

“With dress shopping I knew I wanted something different and most likely not white, my entire closet is black and an all white dress didn't feel like me. I knew I didn't want a veil either so it needed to stand out on it's own. I came to Something Blue with my mom, MIL and her sister, my bridesmaid, and my little brother. We were lucky enough to find any black dresses at all and my bridesmaid grabbed an Allure gown hiding in the corner just to try but I wasn't sure about it. After a few dresses I finally tried it on and it fit like a glove! It was perfect. It was romantic and timeless but the black gave it a modern look. My brother said he knew it was the right one as soon as I had it on and he was right.”

How did Patty know she found “the one”?

“I couldn't stop smiling and looking at myself in the dress and I immediately pictured myself wearing it on the big day and I knew I had to have it.”

What was her favorite {and not-so-favorite} part of the planning process?

“My favorite part of planning the wedding was the fun I got to have with all our friends and family. From our engagement party to the bachelorette party then to the rehearsal dinner we got to see everyone show up for us and show their love. Feeling all that love made us all the more ready to commit to each other for the rest of our lives.

My least favorite part was the scheduling! There are a lot of moving parts and people involved and everything needs to be relayed to every vendor so it was stressful with all the last minute changes and details.”

What’s Patty’s favorite memory from the big day?

“My favorite moment from our wedding was right after we walked out of our ceremony and we went into our reception barn with all our family and wedding party. We were just overcome with joy (and a little relieved). I just remember that I couldn't stop smiling and hugging everyone and we were just ready to party after that!”

Now that her own wedding is all said and done, does Patty have any advice for brides who are currently planning their special day?

“My piece of advice is to do what feels right for you and your partner! We did a lot of things that were not traditional but felt right for us. From the outfits we chose to the way we were announced into our reception and then even the music. Everything was curated to reflect our personalities and it made it so much more special for us.”

Congratulations Patty and Drew!!
