When to Start Shopping for Your Gown
We see it all the time.
Brides get engaged and decide they want to go shopping with their best friends and try on gowns just for fun. The tricky thing about this is most of the time, the bride ends up absolutely falling in love with a gown when she isn’t ready to purchase!
Here are a few tips to help you figure out when you should start shopping for your wedding gown!
Dresses can be discontinued at any time! We get discontinued gown lists a few times a year from our designers, but we have also gotten emails from them discontinuing a gown immediately. If you say yes to a dress and leave without buying, just know there is a chance the dress could get discontinued before you come back to purchase it. We have unfortunately seen this happen and it can be heartbreaking!
Designers could raise prices between the time you say “yes” and the time you order your gown. While we price our gowns at MSRP, we are obligated to raise prices if the designer raises them! We have to charge whatever the price of the dress is the day you pay your 60% down payment.
Waiting to order your gown also means you’ll miss out on our first day discount! If you put down the 60% required to get your dress ordered on your first day in store, we give you $100 off your gown! During special events such as trunk shows, we are able to offer an even higher first day discount! So if you know the dress is absolutely the one, you’ll want to pull the trigger that day or you’ll lose out on getting money off!
Finally, preserve your moment! You will know when you put on your gown. You should be able to say yes to the dress and order your gown when you want to! If you’re all in and ready to go, don’t let anyone around you try to steal your moment from you. We’ve heard our brides who really wanted to buy get talked out of it and leave disappointed, only to come back a few days later and buy all alone. Savor your moment and don’t let anyone take that away from you!
