Amanda and her soon-to-be hubby, David, decided on a first look before walking down the aisle!
We love first looks so much! So special!

Amanda and David were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Blumen Gardens in Sycamore, IL!
“A favorite moment was walking with my mom down the aisle. She recently had a stroke and was in heart failure so we didn’t know if she was going to be able to give me away or even attend. My heart was so full having her by my side on my most special day. Bonus update: this summer she received a heart transplant so we have MANY MORE special moments ahead!”

After the newlyweds said “I do”, everyone headed inside Blumen’s event space for a stunning reception!

How did Amanda and David first meet?
“David and I worked together for a few years and hardly spoke because we were both too nervous to approach the other person. Finally after weeks of him knowing I was interested and still not asking me out, I gathered the courage to ask him to get breakfast with me! Now I tell everyone, if you’re looking for true love ask them out for pancakes!
How did David pop the question?
“David planned a quiet gift exchange the night before Christmas Eve. It was just the two of us and our puppy in front of our Christmas tree. I had a beautifully wrapped gift (my ring) and the next thing I know he’s down on one knee asking me to marry him.”
Was it a surprise or did she know it was coming?
“I had a feeling it would be soon but I did not know it was going to be that soon!”
After saying “yes!” to David, it was time for Amanda to say “yes!” to the dress!
'“Dress shopping was the fastest hour of my life. You really do feel like royalty in that moment too. I went in to my appointment already in love with a gown I found long before I was even engaged. Each of my girls picked out a gown for me to try on and they were all amazing. Colleen was also amazing and picked out a gown “I wouldn’t pick for myself” but I just already knew I’d found my perfect one.”
How did she know her dress was "the one"?
“I always envisioned a fitted gown with an open back and buttons down the back. When I found it online long before I was even engaged I was enamored by it and despite looking through countless other gowns I kept going back to, and dreaming of myself one day wearing it on my wedding day. Colleen knew this was the one I had in mind when coming to my appointment. At her recommendation, I tried this gown on second at my appointment and I knew right away…. After trying my other options and putting it back on once again I started to cry because I was so overwhelmed by how perfect it was.”
What was their favorite part of the planning process?
“We both really enjoyed touring our venue the first time, it was so beautiful and soon became our happy place leading to the wedding. It’s a garden shop as well and we found ourselves making excuses to visit every so often.”
What about their least favorite part?
“We really did not like putting together the seating chart. There’s so much pressure that goes into making sure everyone is happy & comfortable but we also wanted to blend our family and friends so that it wasn’t split into 2 families/friends groups. It all worked out very well in the end!”
Looking back, what was Amanda and David’s favorite memory from their wedding?
“After the long nervous walk down the aisle, it felt like time stood still. I was standing up there next to Dave looking into his eyes and just feeling with everything in me that this was the best thing I’ve ever done and that I was about to marry the love of my life with absolute certainty that this was just the beginning of our amazing journey together.
David’s favorite part was our first dance. All the pressure was done, the fast paced pictures and schedule was finished and we got to enjoy that moment together.”
What is the best piece of advice they can give couples who are currently planning their own big day?
“It really does go by faster than you can imagine… not just the wedding day but the time between engagement and the day of just flies by! This is such a beautiful and sweet time in your life, really soak it all up and enjoy it. Take moments to really be present on your wedding day too.
David said to not get overwhelmed and tackle planning one thing at a time!”
Congratulations, Amanda and David!!
