How did the newlyweds first meet?
“We met in high school at my neighbor's graduation party. We started dating even though he was going to be leaving in six months to start boot camp for the Marines. Which we thought was a long time away at the time. We dated for a few years, but the long distance was hard so we broke up. We always kept in touch and, in 2021, started dating again.”
It was meant to be! How did Daniel pop the question?
“He proposed at the apple orchard with all my family. We knew we were going to wait two years for the wedding since I was pregnant with our son, and our venue was booked two years out for a Saturday date. I figured having two years to plan would be helpful, and I wanted to make sure we got all the vendors we wanted. We didn't want to wait to be married, so we got married privately at the courthouse on November 18, 2022. We have got to renew our vows in front of all our family and friends on November 16, 2024.”
Was the proposal a surprise or did Brittney know it was coming?
“ I didn't know it was going to happen that day, but I had a feeling it was going to be soon because we had looked at rings and talked about it.”
Let’s move on to our favorite topic: dress shopping!
“My dress buying experience was wonderful! I had followed Something Blue on Instagram, so I had saved some dresses I knew I had wanted to try on. Shannon was my stylist and she was so helpful! She made sure I tried on a good variety of dresses to really make sure I knew what I liked.”
How did she know her dress was "the one"?
“I remember when I was trying on all the dresses, I kept looking at my dress like dang. I really wanted to try that one on, but I figured I would save it for last. I really liked two dresses, mine and an Allure one but once they pulled the veil to go with mine, I knew it was the one! My husband and son were both there and my son got all excited when he saw me in my dress so I knew he loved it to!”
What was her favorite { & least fave} part of the wedding planning process?
“My favorite part was getting to pick out everything and getting to see it all come together. I enjoyed adding all the details. I think it really helped make it even more special and personal. Our wedding was in West Bloomfield, Michigan, so most of the guests had to travel at least 4 hours to get there, so I was trying to make sure our guests enjoyed themselves, and it was as convenient as possible.
I would say my least favorite part was figuring out the shuttle. I decided to do a shuttle for our guests since our wedding was out of town, and it was the most stressful. It was just really hard trying to figure out the times and how many people might take it. In the end, I'm glad we did it because the guests did utilize it.”
When she looks back on her special day, does Brittney have any special memories?
“My favorite moment was my first look with my husband, and then I also had a first look with our son which was a surprise and both were so special! That is when we got all of my favorite photos! After our ceremony, the venue coordinator also made sure we got some time to be alone.”
What is the best piece of advice Brittney can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their own big day?
“My biggest piece of advice would be to hire a wedding coordinator, videographer and pick your dream venue, even if it means waiting two years! I don't like having people help me, but my wedding coordinator, Hannah, was the best and only person I trusted! Once I have an idea set in my head, I want and expect it to be perfect. She was so helpful during the planning process and also the day of the wedding. She helped set everything up and take everything down at the end of the night, so neither of our parents had to do anything. Our wedding video is so special to us, and I'm so glad we spent the extra money on a videographer because having a video is so much different than photos. Waiting two years might seem like a long time, but we were able to get all the vendors we wanted, have a Saturday wedding, and it helped spread everything out. It was definitely worth the wait!”
Congratulations, Brittney and Daniel!!
